Services

Motivational Interviewing Training

For individuals, teams, organizations and community services

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, evidence-based approach to communication that supports people in exploring change with autonomy, compassion, and clarity.

These trainings focus on building practical, real-world skills that help professionals strengthen conversations, navigate moments of misalignment, and respond more effectively to ambivalence and uncertainty. Sessions are experiential, reflective, and grounded in real practice—not scripts or rigid techniques.

Trainings can be tailored for beginners, experienced practitioners, or mixed-skill groups, and are designed to support sustainable change rather than quick fixes.

Practitioner Support

Reflective support for helpers, clinicians, and professionals.

Practitioner Support offers a space for those already using MI—or working in helping roles—to slow down, reflect, and deepen their practice. These sessions focus on exploring challenging conversations, sustaining MI spirit, and reconnecting with values when work feels complex or heavy.

Rather than “fixing” or performance-based supervision, this support emphasizes accurate empathy, self-awareness, and thoughtful exploration of what’s happening beneath the surface of client interactions.

Ideal for practitioners seeking growth, clarity, and renewed confidence in their work.

1:1 Clarity Sessions

Compassion-centred, MI-informed conversations for individuals.

Clarity Sessions are one-to-one conversations designed to support individuals navigating inner conflict, uncertainty, or life transitions. Using MI-informed dialogue, these sessions help clients explore what matters most, untangle competing values, and move toward alignment at their own pace.

This is not advice-giving or directive coaching. Instead, sessions create space for reflection, insight, and choice—supporting people in finding their own answers with compassion and respect.

Hi, I'm Laurie

I’m a Motivational Interviewing practitioner, trainer, and facilitator supporting individuals, professionals, and organizations in strengthening communication, deepening clarity, and navigating meaningful change.

My work is grounded in Motivational Interviewing, accurate empathy, and a deep respect for autonomy. Much of my experience comes from community-based and outreach settings, supporting people navigating complex life circumstances, advocacy, and systems that don’t always make things easy.

I’m a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and hold an Addiction Counselling diploma with a strong foundation in Indigenous and community-based approaches.

At Wholehearted Concept, my focus is on slowing conversations down, listening beneath the surface, and supporting change that feels aligned, ethical, and sustainable.

While my work includes one-to-one clarity sessions, it also extends to supporting practitioners. I work with helpers and professionals who want to feel more confident, grounded, and MI-aligned in their everyday practice.

Learning MI can be an empowering process, and I love supporting people as they grow into their own style of doing this work.
